Ingrid's Site

My name is Ingrid Callot.  I’m a wife, mother, cosmetics representative and blogger.  I’ve always had a problem organizing my closet.  All of my clothing used to be either in messy piles on the closet floor, or folded and stashed randomly in the shelves on the inside wall.  There was a hanger rod near the closet ceiling, but all I had hanging on it were some formal gowns and other things I don’t really use all that often.  My closet looked like a patient in the middle of a kidney transplant – wide open and all jumbled up inside.  It was hopeless.

One day, I made a vow: “I, Ingrid Callot, do solemnly swear to conquer this clutter.” Then I set out to obliterate the mess, applying fixtures I saw in a boutique at the mall into my own closet.  I emptied the closet floor and installed double hanger rods.  One rod was close to the ceiling while the other was halfway up from the floor.  I hung all the clothes from the piles on both rods with a bunch of hangers.

Then, using plywood, I suspended shoe planks from wall to wall near the floor.  This way, I could keep my shoes neatly inside my closet and not lined up against a wall in my bedroom like I used to do.

Today, my closet isn’t amazing, but I’m happy that it doesn’t look like it’s owned by a crazy person anymore.

Isn't it great how closets are like a window into someone's personality? You can learn so much by looking at the state and style of a persons closet.
